POSITION OVERVIEW

Under the guidance of the CG Crowd TD, the CG Crowd Artist implements the creation of 3D crowd shots to be delivered to off-site vendors to be composited into a 2D series.

PRIMARY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

• Creating crowd simulation to compose movements of crowds using 3D software.
• Follows the established style of performance for the project.
• Editing 3D animations for assets, mainly, but not limited to, character models.
• Works with the Crowd TD to determine the best possible technical and creative approaches.
• Ensures balance, composition and timing requirements are implemented in a way that supports story and character/crowd performance.
• Adheres to timeliness in meeting milestones and quality assurance.
• Collaborates with creative and technical staff to ensure crowd feasibility within the confines of schedule and budget.
• Ensures balance, composition and timing requirements are implemented in a way that supports story and character / crowd performance.
• Interprets and implements notes and feedback from Director(s), Executives or clients in a timely and qualitatively acceptable way.
• Aligns and engages with the values of Skybound North: a culture of community, connectivity, creativity and collaboration.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:
• Degree and/or diploma in fine arts or animation or equivalent experience is required.
• 3+ years of production experience is preferred.
• Prior experience as a Crowd artist is required

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Expertise in Maya and CG production methodology.
• Ability to communicate creative or technical concerns and ideas clearly and concisely. Practices attentive and active listening
• Ability to rig base crowd models for 3D animation cycles is am asset.
• Experience working with crowd kits to create procedural variation in agents.
• Knowledge of game engines and real time rendering is an asset.
• Experience working with motion capture data, solving and cleaning mocap data, and creating animation cycles.
• Encourages open communication between the team and other departments.
• Good understanding of principles of animation.
• Efficient and detail oriented. Knowledge of the production process.
• Ability to deliver work on time and meet set performance objectives.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Crowd/CG Coordinator works closely with the Producer(s) to assist in the day to day operation of 3D Elements on a 2D animated series. The main function is to serve as a liaison for Producers and Directors ensuring daily assignments are assigned, tracked and prepped for delivery to offsite partners.

PRIMARY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

• Manages the Crowd Department in the production and implementation of 3D crowd systems. Including scheduling and prioritizing assignments.
• Manages the production of CG Asset creation, both in house and external vendors as required.
• Track and maintains database of approvals, revisions, schedules and statuses.
• Shifts crew scheduled priorities as deemed necessary.
• Responsible for organizing, note taking, and running review sessions.
• Strong written and communications skills with the ability to adapt to different personalities and situations.
• Ensures schedules remain on track through effective time management of crew.
• Analyzes and flags schedule concerns. Communicates pro-actively and able to shift priorities to meet the needs of the production.
• Support producers in deliveries of production materials to overseas studios as per agreed production schedule.
• Works collaboratively with LA production office.
• Ensures all key materials are reviewed by Supervising Director, Director(s), Producer(s) and Production Executives.
• Problem solves proactively.
• Any other tasks and additional projects commensurate with the role

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:

• University degree or equivalent preferred.
• 3+ years industry experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Strong knowledge of animation, 2D and CG production pipelines, including pre-production and post production.
• Shotgun experience is an asset.
• Must be solutions oriented with an ability to act decisively and sensitively under pressure.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Strong computer database skills.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Adaptable to change, he/she can alter course of action quickly per production needs. Highly motivated, pro-active, solid work ethic and positive attitude.
• Strong oral and written communication skills. Practices attentive and active listening.
• Open to and encourages feedback and new initiatives. Must be flexible and a strategic thinker.
• Makes decisions in a timely manner. Accepts accountability for own actions.
